The Sole Keeper from the Hardcourt

Let’s be honest; aside from the heart-stopping dunks, lay-ups, and rainbow shots, there’s one more thing that elicits the oohs and aahs of basketball fans – SNEAKERS! And this is where Jay Mijares, co-founder of The Kickz Stand, tames the roaring crowd on the bleachers.

Jay’s obsession with kicks started when his childhood idol Grant Hill’s FILA GH1 landed on his palms. Electrifying, of course! From thereon, his collections grew one sneaker at a time until it spiked up to around 70 pairs today!

Some of his prized possessions are Supreme x Nike Air Foamposite One (Black and Gold), Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Elephant,” and Sneaker Freaker x Puma Blaze of Glory “Black Beast.”

When making his next purchase, he said he ensures that the colourway and comfort are in check.

A confessed hobbyist, Jay emphasized the value of patience in collecting.

“Only spend within your means. Also don’t be discouraged if you miss out because if those sneakers are really meant for you, they will find its way to you eventually."

Of course, as one can expect, his passion emanates from what he does in The Kickz Stand. The platform advanced from being a sneaker and streetwear authority to a full-fledged lifestyle community space that caters to music, arts, cars, collectible toys, and other what-have-you’s!

So if you are in need of some serious fun and leisure, you might want to drop that ball for a little while and head to thekickzstand.com.au.

“Coz we swear, action happens inside and outside the court!"

What's more, The Kickz Stand got more exciting things cooking up this year. Come April, the much anticipated “It’s more than just sneakers” Lifestyle Tour will return, and Quickstrike Asia will be participating for the Perth leg!

Watch this space for exciting tour updates.
